BP-1 Pickup

Portable bridge-mounted piezo, tailpiece-mounted output jack for banjo

Unlike other banjo pickups, BP-1 offers a unique way of sound capturing and delivers the natural tone from your banjo to your amp or mixing board.

There's a less chance of feedback than a banjo microphone pickup.

Detachable and one of the most portable pickups for banjo, BP-1 conveniently accepts a standard 1/4'' cable.

Features

Install with no modification

The sensor is easily installed on the side of the bridge and no modifications to the instrument are required.

Wooden sensor

The piezo sensor has a lightweight wooden casing to achieve maximum tonal sensitivity and transmission.

Natural sound

BP-1 has a passive design that reproduces the natural sound of the instrument with no need for a battery.

Complete installation set

The pickup comes with additional shims and a microporous rubber slave for fitting the sensor in narrow bridges, and zip ties for attaching the jack housing to the bracket hooks.

Instructions

Follow our installation guide through the following steps:

BP-1 will function from either side of the bridge. The treble side is more common for right-handed players.

Hold the bridge with one hand while installing the BP-1 sensor with the other. The sensor will first touch the bridge with the microporous sleeve. Slightly press on the sleeve to make the opening wider, then slip the BP-1 sensor onto the bridge.

The sensor should stay stable on the bridge. If needed, you may move it toward the bottom of the bridge where the bridge is wider. Hold the sensor carefully with your fingers on both sides and carefully slide it down. The sensor should fit tightly but shouldn’t require force to be placed in position.

For narrower bridges, the provided shims may be required. Peel the protective film off and install on the flat side of the microporous sleeve. For your convenience, stick the shims on the microporous sleeve while it is removed from the sensor. For stable attachment, install as many shims as needed.

Find a suitable place for the jack housing near the tailpiece. Use the included zip ties to attach the jack housing on the bracket hooks.

With the volume off, plug one end of an instrument cable into BP-1 and the other end into your amplification system. Hold the jack housing firmly when attaching and detaching the cable.    Enjoy your new pickup and make music!
